Ginger

Ginger or ginger root is the rhizome of the plant Zingiber officinale with a firm, striated texture. The flesh of the thai ginger rhizome is yellow. It is covered with a brownish skin that may either be thick or thin, depending upon whether the plant was harvested when it was mature or young.

Ginger produces a hot, fragrant kitchen spice. Young ginger rhizomes are juicy and fleshy with a very mild taste.
